Where Closedhand lives

Closedhand lives on one computer you control, and you use it from your phone, any browser or your chat apps. Your data stays on the computer you choose and can’t be moved to another one later, so pick one that’s on when you’ll want Closedhand.

  • Your laptop

    It answers while the laptop is awake and picks up new mail when it wakes. Schedules due while it sleeps are skipped.

  • A computer you leave on

    A desktop, a Mac mini or an old PC. Closedhand is there day and night, so Pulse and your schedules keep running while you sleep.

  • A server you rent

    A small rented server (a VPS) is always on and needs nothing running at home. A hosting company provides the machine, and Closedhand keeps everything it knows on it.

What you need to run Closedhand
Install Closedhand, choose your AI model and connect the services you want to use.
A home for itThe Mac app on any Apple Silicon Mac, or Docker on a Mac, a Windows or Linux PC or a rented server (VPS). You then use Closedhand from any device through the web chat at your personal URL or through your chat apps.
Your AI modelUse a local model or a hosted provider. Hosted providers process requests under their own terms and may charge for usage.
Your personal URLSetup gives Closedhand a personal URL that opens its web chat and dashboard from any device. Both stay on the computer running it, protected by your dashboard password.
Mac accessIncluded in the Closedhand app for Mac. With Docker, install the optional Bridge app on the Mac you want to access, even if Docker runs on that same Mac. Choose what to allow from the app’s menu bar.
