Closedhand

Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 October 2026

1. What Closedhand is

Closedhand is open-source software that runs on a computer you control, connects to the services you choose and carries out tasks through chat. These terms describe the local product and the public website and personal URL service. The software is also available under its repository licence.

2. Your account

Your dashboard password protects your dashboard. Your Closedhand account on closedhand.com holds your personal URL; you sign in to it with Google or Microsoft, and it stores your email and nothing else. Keep the computer running Closedhand and any sign-in account secure. You must be at least 16 years old to use the website service.

3. What you can do

You can use Closedhand to manage your personal and professional services through chat, run routines, install skills and MCP connections, and optionally connect your local computer via Bridge. You agree not to:

4. Connected services

When you connect third-party services (Google, Microsoft, Slack, Shopify, Meta, GitHub, etc.), Closedhand acts on your behalf using the permissions you grant. You can disconnect any service at any time from your dashboard. Closedhand only accesses your data when you ask, unless you have enabled features like Pulse that periodically check your services.

5. Local computer access (Bridge)

If you install Bridge on your Mac, you grant Closedhand access to your local files, applications, and terminal within the permission boundaries you set. You are responsible for what you instruct Closedhand to do. Review the permissions you grant and the actions you request. Confirmation depends on the action and your settings. You can disconnect Bridge or toggle individual permissions at any time.

6. Sandbox computer

The standard local setup includes Closedhand's sandbox computer, a separate space for browser and code tasks. Its files and website sessions can persist. You are responsible for the code and data you process there. Do not use it to attack or interfere with external systems.

7. Agents and routines

Agents can work on a question now or run tasks at times you choose. Their results are saved in your local task history and can be delivered in chat. Using an agent does not require a separate report. Unattended agents have a more restricted set of tools than the main chat.

8. Skills and MCP connections

You can extend Closedhand by installing community skills and MCP server connections. All installations are scanned for security risks before activation. However, we cannot guarantee the safety or quality of third-party skills and MCP servers. You install them at your own risk. We reserve the right to block or remove skills and MCP connections that pose security risks.

9. How Closedhand uses your data

Closedhand stores its application data on the computer running it. Selected AI providers and connected services process the content needed for their work under their own terms. The public personal URL service stores the records needed to provide remote access. See our Privacy Policy for details.

10. AI-generated responses

Closedhand uses AI to understand your requests and generate responses. AI can make mistakes. You should review important actions before confirming them. Review your connection permissions and confirmation settings; not every action requires a separate confirmation.

11. Availability

Local chat, tasks and remote dashboard access require the computer running Closedhand to stay awake and online. Public website and connection services can also be unavailable during outages or maintenance.

12. Payment and billing

The local software is open source. Your chosen model providers, hosting and other external services may charge for their usage. Review those providers' prices and account settings.

13. Limitation of liability

Closedhand is provided "as is". We do our best to make it reliable and secure, but we cannot guarantee it will always be perfect. In particular, actions taken on your local computer via Bridge, code executed in the sandbox, and actions taken by routines are your responsibility. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Closedhand and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

14. Data deletion

Use dashboard Settings to delete stored application data. Local backups, sandbox computer files and copies already held by external services are separate and may require their own deletion. Contact the operator to request deletion of public website or personal URL records.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make meaningful changes, we will notify you through Closedhand directly. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.

16. Termination

You can stop using the local software at any time. Access to the public website or personal URL service may be suspended for abuse. That does not uninstall your local software or delete your local database.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.

18. Contact

If you have questions about these terms, send a message to Closedhand using /feedback, or email [email protected].
